The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow Alert™: Not quite the predicted flood in September.

Way back in June, the Sun gave us some Mayan prophecies for this year, which kinda sorta came true but on a teeny tiny scale.

The first was Midwest earthquakes in July. There are always earthquakes in the Midwest, especially around Arkansas, but they are little things, not even 3.0 on the Richter scale.

(For the record, the big East Coast quake was not in July.)

There was also a report of the entire U.S. being swept by floods in September, with a graphic of a big wave hitting the Statue of Liberty, not unlike this special effects shot from The Day After Tomorrow.

There were floods, but nothing like what was predicted.

Last month, the Sun had a passel of headlines about what would come to pass by yesterday, 9/11/11, all predicted by Nostradamus. Here they are.

• Nuclear blast rocks U.S.
• Great depression
• Bin Laden seen alive!
• Lady Liberty speaks
• Antichrist is a woman!
  

The only one of them that's even close is the great depression, but most economists disagree and it certainly didn't get massively worse in the past four weeks, so I'm going to hang a big zero for five around Michel de Nostradamus' long dead neck.

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow Alert™: The Mayans predict earthquake in the the Midwest in July.

If we are being all technical and stuff, the Sun got a prophecy right when they said the Mayans foretold of earthquakes in the Midwest in July 2011.

There are earthquakes in the Midwest of the United States almost every day. They are just really small.

The biggest this month in the Midwest was a 2.8 on the Richter scale, epicenter near Greenbrier, Arkansas. California had about a dozen quakes stronger than that this month, none of the them newsworthy. The biggest this month was a 7.0 off the coast of Japan, about 16,000 times stronger than a 2.8 and about 100 weaker than the gigantic quake that hit Japan earlier this year.

So I'm counting this as a technically correct prophecy, but a practically pointless one. People do not need to be forewarned about earthquakes a cat might sleep through.
